Job Description

Our client, a leader in the transportation services industry is seeking an Associate Project Manager to join their team! While their office is based in Etobicoke, this position requires heavy travel within the GTA with the use of your own vehicle, compensation will be provided. It also requires some out of province travel by plane to support projects Canada wide. The Associate Project Manager will provide key support to the Project Management Team and report directly to the Director of Technology. In this role you will be responsible for piloting information processing, information distribution, and actively encouraging compliance with project protocol.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates, organizes, and attends internal and external project meetings and issues and distributes meeting minutes.
  • Assists in updating project schedules and uses control tools to monitor project deliverables, work hours, and budgets.
  • Assists in updating Project Workbook and distribution of High Level Reports (HLRs).
  • Adapts/creates project templates as per Project Manager Requests.
  • Assists the Project Manager in the review of contractor quotations.
  • Tracks and manages contemplated change orders in the database.
  • Reviews and/or creates internal documentation prior to submitting for customers’ review.
  • Keeps the Project Manager and others informed about project status and issues that may impact client relations.
  • Acts as back up when Project Manager is away from the office, e.g. sick leave, vacation.
  • Responsible for maintaining data files on document sharing site.
  • Follows organization policies, legal regulations, and compliance practices.
  • Always shows respect and appreciation for colleagues and customers.
  • Actively engages in new and different work requirements; exploring new opportunities to add value to the organization; helping others accomplish related job results as and where needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates experience with MS Project and MSOffice.
  • Demonstrates experience with strict deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Must have proven meticulous attention to detail, strong communication skills, good time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to be pro-active with a sense of urgency.
  • Demonstrates technical writing ability to include organized material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Ability to manage and communicate with internal contributors.
  • Must understand the transformation of data to information; and envision effective means for conveying that information to internal parties.
  • Ability to exercise tact and good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to network effectively and build relationships at all internal levels.
  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with SAP considered an asset.
